Kyle Shanebeck is a Poet and Wildlife Biologist in Santa Cruz, California, where he works and volunteers at a local Aquarium. His work centers on reflections of contemporary ideals of masculinity, internal conflict with traditional conservative Christian upbringing, and reconciling abuse, rejection, and relational dysfunction. Poetry has always been his passion, both as a spiritual/emotional outlet, and as his artistic craft. Poetry offers us all an important pathway by which we can experience and process internal emotion or trauma in a healthy way, allowing the reader to externalize and put that emotion and or trauma behind them. This work speaks about some of the darkest parts of life, in hope that it will allow others to process similar experiences in a healthy and healing way.
